Good Friday 2010

Somehow, one instance of this routine public act of Roman torture led to events that changed the world.

Argue theology all you want (preferably not here, but go ahead if you must...) History, Architecture and Music remind us that others have been profoundly moved, for reasons that even cynics like me can not explain.

And why is it 'Good' Friday?

I often think of my Dad, who died prematurely about 18 years ago. I don't regard the anniversary of his death as remotely good.

Perhaps, "Shit Friday" would be more apt. (As in, it happens).

Losing a parent is hard to bear.

A quick and superficial Google search suggests that the "Good" term is limited to English and is possibly a variant of God Friday. I dunno, the term has always puzzled me too.

Thanks for stopping by.
